    Time dependent plots

steady-state direct dynamic analysis is a frequency domain procedure. Use *Dynamic or *ModalDynamic instead (time domain)

Modelling a Plate with sinusoidal Displacement Boundary condition in one edge

Depends. Are you investigating the plate in the time domain or in the frequency domain?
  3. PamCrash

Linear Pertubation Analysis (with contact definition)

The contact situation is frozen at the start of the perturbation analysis. Means that open contacts remain open and vice versa.
  4. PamCrash

ABAQUS Column buckling analysis - Interactions

What about a TIE connection using node2surface intersction? You should consider using more than one element for the column
  5. PamCrash

mesh doesn't respond correctly to prescribed displacement

If its a dynamic analysis then the units of the density could be wrong (e.g. nonconsistent unit system)
  6. PamCrash

    modeling ultrasonic wave medium

    Stiffness, density, maybe damping
  7. PamCrash

Problem to find out the correct displacement by using dynamic implicit in Abaqus 6.11

Please provide more information (e.g. sketch, input deck... )
  8. PamCrash

Linear Pertubation Analysis (with contact definition)

Perturbation analysis is 100% linear. Contact is a nonlinearity.

    Save images Abaqus Viewer

    1) write an animation to an avi file. then convert to single pictures usings a freeware 2) will use only the first 600 seconds

    Simple things with keywords (commands)

Hi 1) Its for smart engineers only 2) Use a Preprocessor to create the mesh. BC keyword: *BOUNDARY, Contact keyword: *CONTACTPAIR
  11. PamCrash

use spring or other connections in variable directions

To find out the element type please open the input file with an editor and search for *element,type=spring....

    Abaqus: Frequency Response Function Plot

Since the hammer impact experiment is highly instationary you have to model this problem in the time domain (*ModalDynamic or *Dynamic in Standard or Explicit). Results should be passed through an FFT analyzer afterwards. Random reponse is based on an ergodic, stationary excitation which...

use spring or other connections in variable directions

what spring element do you use ? Seems SPRINGA
  14. PamCrash

    Spring analysis

Are these blocks perfectly rigid ?

    c3d4 vs c3d10 in contact

C3D4 are very poor elements in strength analyses, I use them only when modelling masses. You need a very dense mesh to get accurate stress results. C3D4-Stiffness is also too high. In terms of contact both element types work well.

    *MODEL CHANGE ABAQUS

    STEP level only
  17. PamCrash

    Unexplainable expansion of parts

NLGEOM switch on or off ?
  18. PamCrash

    Plastic Strain Data Input

plastic strain = total strain - elastic strain elastic strain = stress / youngsmodulus
  19. PamCrash

    Easy ABAQUS Contact Question

set deformation scale factor to 1.0 and plot again
