    ASME Standards

Compare visiting a corporate or university library; or a technical book store. Few US Engineering standardards are available online for free. Numerous ASME standards exist including many updates. You may find information regarding the latest standard and perhaps update issues. Corporate...

    Conductivity used to measure pH

Perhaps coriolis meters could measure density for liquid a bit better than for gas.

dew points nr. in natural gas curve

Some of us lack most chemical engineer details; some like dcastro may cover for us - or correct us. I will keep my head down for his corrections. ;-) Natural gas from a gas well or especially an oil/gas well are likely saturated. A chryogenic gas plant may drop the temperature below -150...

wiring a start/stop on a pump through to the mcc

Things change. Separate contacts, DCS and SIS signals may apply. Different companies split the control responsibilities. Some SIS bypass functions may be permitted with continuoun alarm and regular refreshment. Industry requirements frequently vary. Advise the process and some may advise...

    Restriction Orifice

Pressure drop is a significant different between restriction and flow orifice data. Perhaps 100 inch water is common for liquid orifice drop and lower with vapors. If a pump raises 100 psig, the restriction orifice on the reccycle drops about the same. Plate should be thicker etc.

    P&ID's

Some process applications vary on P&ID details. Variations exist among process and client differences. OSHA 1910.119 applies to hazardous applications, Details differ among process types for the P&ID control and other aspects. Some reflect a control scheme with auto/manual etc. with the...

    Vibration Monitoring

Perhaps inlet head pressure too low, temperature high, tight rotating turns etc. could cause suction flashing. Cavitation and flashing could share similar features.

Instrument transmitter take off or not as precommissioning start

I might forget some situations. It may be common for some to isolate flow, pressure, level trandmitters with the manifold valve etc. Offline instrumentation is not significant. Perhaps fes temperature thermowells would be bothered; unless initiating a major steamout exceeding the calculation...

    Flare Design

Consider a few sulfur related compounds ... hydrogen sulfide, thiosulfates, mercaptans - more; for example. Some 40 CFR 60 series or international standards suggest envirnmental interest -- total flow, BTU, sulfurs, N2, C..., etc. Perhaps sample taps, returns, utilities, etc. in flaring system...

New Facility Purge -- (Purge Oxygen with Fuel Gas)

I wonder, could air and hydrocarbon possibly ignite and not just explode? Perhaps something like commissioning and checkout folks know a bit about nitrogen, CO2 or other compounds to be inert in lieu of to be explosive, perhaps.

25 and 50# pipe flange specifications - steel flange thickness

Perhaps this is of interest to some for large low temp, pressure etc. in something non corrosive. And I would not be interested in industry.

    Pressure class rating of Flanges.

BTW most are OK at 20 bar and 400?C and 30 bar and 300?C. Some exceptions exist.

    Pressure class rating of Flanges.

Flanges exclude the # symbol ASME B16.5. Different pressure and temperature tables apply to different metals. Materials in groups 1.1 (A 105 or A 216 WCB CS) and 1.2 (A 350 and A216 WCC) will be high compared to others. I notice that I lack the 2009 standard on my home PC. Still, chrome...

Where to find a good Class I Div 1 Group BCD motor that is unpurged?

What horsepower? If over 200 hp, what voltage? I have not done electrical power in a very long time. Perhaps small motors could apply reduced ratings with NFPA 496 purge applications. This could be no surprise with 2 hp. Each order of magnitude larger could thin some purge applications...

    Wc6 vs Wc7 globe valves?

I am not a mechanical pig-iron type person. Still, recall that older globe valve models included WCB as a standard procuct for carbon steel castings; where WCC seems to be the modern standard for carbon steel these days. Seems like WB6 and WB9 were upgrades - now available as WC6 and WC9...

    rosemount 1151 AMBIENT TEMPERATURE EFFECT?

I may still be able to find data for teh 1151 but generally walked away from those 15 years ago. I used to consider the 1151 used for dp level to be a better temperature transmitter. ;-) Many great choices exist with the same Emerson company and hot choices among 3051 and 3095...

    NGL Storage.

Natural Gas Liquids is some ethane, propane, butane etc. pulled outoff gas and sold etc. NGL could be kinda like propane thus ambient temp at pressure toward -40 deg F/C if vapor. Pulling liquid out of gas includes some processing below -150 deg F (turb-expansion) for the separation of gas...

    Question of Thermowell

Different installation methods permit some variation in the minimum line size etc. Also, the pipin connection such as flanged is normal for me but other ndustries may have other options. You could install the TW in a line smaller than NPS 4 in an elbow. Where practical piping could change...
