Filtering results of a linear buckling analysis!

Thank you for the post. My linear buckling model is pre-stressed and is based on a load case that the standard requires. I am analyzing a duct system and according to the standard I am using the load multiplier (=alpha critical) for the shell plates in my case should be above 1.6 a condition...

Filtering results of a linear buckling analysis!

Hi, I am doing a linear buckling of a structure which consists of shell and stiffener plate. I am interested in the modes where the maximum occurs in the stiffener paltes only but in order to reach a load multiplier value of 25 i need almost 550 modes. Going through all these results one by one...

    Nonlinear Buckling

My guess is that you should make sure there are no spaces in the path defined for UPGEOM. In the path provided in your post I see a space between xxxxxx and Rus, replace it with an underline so that you have "xxxxxx_Rus" and you should be OK.

    Edit dimensions in Work Bench

After dimensioning the diameter of the circle then adding dimension V3 (which looks to be the radius of the circle and not necessary) is over defining the dimensions, that is why you get the error message. These two dimensions do the same thing and that is defining the radius/diameter of the...

Import NASYS Classic geometry to Workbench

When it opens the empty DM file, do you click the Generate button? I assume that you have attached the IGES file to your Geometry (Geometry => import Geometry=> browse...).

    Move body in ANSYS Workbench

Of course you would need DesignModeler to do that.

    Data overview window ANSYS 11

From the View in the menu select "Restore Original Window Layout" and I think things will be back to normal again. If this does not help you might need to remove the Ansys folder in your profile folder (under "documents and settings" folder). I hope these help!

How can I replace an element type in Ansys Workbench

I think you need to issue this command under the "solution" item and not the "Geometry" item as you have done.

    Ansys Design Space Question

There is no "edit material" in the engineering tab. If you have not defined a material for your project, Ansys by default uses "structural steel". You can rename (RMB), edit, add and remove properties for this material. In Ansys 11, normally by clicking on your material on the left, you get...

    S-N curve for P265GH?

Hi, I am looking for the S-N curve of P265GH (EN 10 028-2) pressure vessel steel. The designation for this material in - DIN is HII - ASTM/ASME is A 516 GR 60. I need the curves in order to carry out a pressure vessel fatigue analysis where the mentioned material is used. Alternatively, I will...

Which code to buy? IBC? UBC?

The few codes that I have seen are very similar to each other. So is it then safe to assume that by buying (and following the guidelines in)IBC which is probably the backbone of many other national codes, most of the seismic design issues are covered? The values needed for the calculations may...

Which code to buy? IBC? UBC?

@UcfSE According to Taro (thank you by the way), UBC is a regional code in the US and since we are located in Europe and most of our clients are in south-east Asia, buying a soon to be obsolete code seems to be a waste of money. That is why I asked the question in the first place since I was not...

Which code to buy? IBC? UBC?

Hi, What would be the most useful code for seismic design purposes? Up to now we have always got parts of the national codes from our clients and used them. We would like to purchase a code which covers seismic design in case the target country does not have a national one. I know this is a...

    Comparative look at Designspace flavors

As far as I know DesignSpace and its various versions are a thing of the past. These days you can only buy the Workbench with different capabilities (Designspace, professional, Structural...)
