I'm sure some of the tasks that would need to be completed prior to construction are: soil studies, water studies, construction permits, surveys, researching contractors, developing designs, etc. You might want to see if one of these Microsoft Project Schedule Templates might be...

Hi Gaetano82,
From your post, it sounds like you have a desire to learn more about pursuing a career as a Project Manager. The Project Management Institute is a great organization. They offer many certification in and around project management. However, also from your comments, it sounds as if...
Hi Kriti,
I have both my MBA and my PMP. I acquired my MBA first, and I still had a difficult time landing a job that provided the salary that I felt I deserved. After acquiring my PMP, many doors opened. Now you have to keep in mind that by this time I had a a bachelors degree in business...
hhhmmmmm
Baseline Start and Baseline Finish get populated from Start and Finish at the time we save the Baseline. Microsoft Project does NOT copy % Complete into a Baseline % Complete column. Even if it did...wouldn't most of the % Commpletes be 0 at the time of baselining?
You might try...
Have you tried creating Box Assembly as a Material Resource?
- Enter Box Assembly as a resource on your Resource Sheet.
- Click on the dropdown in the Type column and select material
- In the Standard Rate column enter 50

I agree with MSPtrainer: take a class and/or buy a book!!
I have worked with a number of individuals who have worked with Microsoft Project for years who really do not understand how they SHOULD work with it or how Microsoft Project really "thinks".
Unlike Word or Excel, in order to get the...
I have used the MSP Workgroup feature that Krunchy referenced above. It works great!
As a second option, it IS possible to Export data from MS Project to Excel, Update date Excel, and then import those updates back into MS Project. Here is an article that shows you how...
Create 8.
As you move forward in working with MS Project, you will find this was the best choice. Here is why:
1. You will find that not all 8 resources will work on the same tasks.
2. If all 8 resources do work on the same task, they will certainly not all contribute the same amount of...
You might try this. Insert a text column. Name that column: Theoretical % Complete. Then copy in this formula:
ProjDateDiff([Start date];Date();[Project Calendar]))*100)/([Duration]
Now you can compare % Complete and Theoretical % Complete to see the variance.
Hope this helps!!

Formatting the font works differently in the Calendar view. You can change the text color, but it is sort of all or nothing. Try right clicking on a task, then select Text Styles, choose Non-Critical tasks and change the font color to Blue. Click on OK. All non critical path tasks are now...
There is a way to do this without the macro. It involves modifying the options within the tables as opposed to the over-all MS Project options which is under tools. Try this:
1. Open your project
2. Go to the View that you want to leverage. This View will contain the Table you want to...
If you are working with Project 2003 or 2007, insert the column Status Indicator. This might help.
For more of a "popup", try working with the field Deadline and watch the Indicators column on the left.
Hope this helps!

I am making the assumption you are working with a master project that contains inserted project schedules.
View #1:
This can be achieved through the Resource Usage View
1. Click on >View, >Resource Usage
2. Insert the column called Project
3. Adjust your timescale accordingly
View #2:
