Can someone please recommend a PF meter that will work on 11 KV delta feeders (about 6400 v per phase)?
Some of our generators are reading a low power factor (80-85%). But because the generators are switched around to feed different feeders, it would make sense to correct our PF at the feeders...
We have several motors labelled only "240v 60hz 3-phase"
These motor are made in USA - an industrial floor standing band saw, band sander, dimpling machine, etc.
and name plate doesn't say if thats delta or wye.
I assume the motors are actually 240v delta, since thats a standard voltage in USA...
if those secondary cables are causing the resonance their probably inductive and if you can
measure their inductance you can add an equal amount of capacitance to neutralize it,
or even some small load, exactly like prc said above.
ZapSib, what is COMTRADE? I googled it, nothing seems to relate to electricity ??? Comtradesoftware.com seems like an IT system, or maybe I mis-understand ???
We have a problem with relays tripping at our power plant.
We believe it may be due to transients but need to make accurate measurements to be sure.
Our current SCADA software (Siemens WinCC) measures 16 points at our power plant, every 500 milliseconds.
I asked the SCADA "expert" why we cant...
My company wants to purchase some EE design software.
Does anyone have any experience or recommendation about ETAP or SKM or any other design software?
Is ETAP getting to be the most popular?
We want something that can connect at our power plant and record and analyze transients there
causing...
You asked:
1) Where could the source originate at?
high speed cameras show many light strikes are upward from the earth to the clouds.
2) I understand the philosophy lightning goes to ground and dissipates, but I argue the point if lighting strikes the ground directly, it does energize that...
if the HV has a physical separation sufficient for the use, electric ok. But comms will want to approve, or not, shouldnt matter if its fiber in its own duct, but if comms is copper, ask them if they ok it or not.
Michael, please correct me if im wrong, but your background is in BS7671 or IEC and you want to design this to NEC,
US electric code in a country that requires it like KSA, correct?
Ok to answer your questions:
1. TP&N neutral solid to earth incoming is mean my distribution board will only have...
While 4 wire is required by newer codes, this is a safety issue, and you should use the 4 wire system whether it is required or not.
if you've got 4 wires in the wall, use them - for safety sake!
my house has shear walls, structural 1 rated sheathing, grade beams, steel columns.....and I'm glad it does. does someone actually want to live in
houses not rated for lateral forces?
Duwe6 - according to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMFBR#Fast_breeder_reactor
it says, "As of 2006, all large-scale fast breeder reactor (FBR) power stations have been liquid metal fast breeder reactors (LMFBR) cooled by liquid sodium." so liquid sodium cooling is state of the art - in practice...
