    High Pitch Sound Isolation

Thanks for the reply. I know that I can hear only up to 8K. It's ok for conversation but music doesn't sound very good to me anymore...I hate that. The power supply is on a circuit board so everything is exposed. I will have to get my son (who complains about the noise) to help out on this.

    High Pitch Sound Isolation

Not sure where to post this but I'll start here? This is actually a question concerning hobby items: neon lights on a toy HO scale train display with a power supply that causes high pitched annoying noise. I have four picture displays connected to one power supply. It doesn't matter though, one...

    WN nozzle joint efficency

I would like to know how the nozzle joint efficiency value affects the analysis results. I am using COMPRESS (but could be any package). There is a 14" 150# WN nozzle, XS neck, SA-106-B material. 19" OD x 3/8" thick pad. Shell is 48" Dia x 3/8" thick. SA-516-70 pad and shell. Design is 50 psi...

    Temperature Loads

A training book I have says that the initial temperature can only be changed when doing transient analysis. Steady state analysis doesn't make any difference with the initial temperature.

Lifting lugs on vertical vessel top head

To DSB123, What do you mean by the "Mathcad Approach" What edition of Bednar are you looking at?

    Add studding pad

I don't know why a studding pad was used. I do know that the customer said that space was very limited but it seems like a regular nozzle would have work? If I get more info, I'll let you know.

    Add studding pad

Thanks for the reply, You answered my question very well!

    Add studding pad

Thanks for the reply. Api doesn't provide reinforcement calculations. Api just states repads based on nozzle size. So are you suggesting to use maybe the ASME pressure vessel code method?

    Add studding pad

I have a 10' diameter CS API 650 tank, flat bottom. It's about 15 years old. Customer wants to put a 6" studding pad (thru a vertical weld)located about 6" from the bottom plate. There is no information on this type of connection. Does it still need a repad added? Can it just be welded in or...

    Evaluate Geometry

    Thanks for the reply.

    Evaluate Geometry

OK then, why does someone need to know the angle between the principal axis and the sketch axes? What does that information do for you?

    Evaluate Geometry

Playing around with various geometries, I discovered that the angle goes to "0" when the geometry is symmetrical. For my purposes, I generally only need to know the section properties about one of the axes. Comparing the computer results to hand calculations, I determined that I don't need all...

    Evaluate Geometry

I am using SW2016. I created a "T" section in Sketch. I selected "Evaluate" to determine the section properties (Ixx, Iyy, centroid, etc). Some of the MOI show a small number but should be "0". One of the results, "Angle between principal axes and sketch axes" shows a none zero number. I guess...

    ASME VIII, Div 2 Drawings

I do mostly vessel rerates. Most of the vessels are decades old. It's no fun when there is missing information on a drawing. Sometimes the main drawing refers to other drawings for details....drawings that were lost long ago. For future work, keep all the info in one place. If the customer...

    Plot Error?

Well I think I got it working. I kept trying to import the model into SW as a part or an assembly. For no reason, I just opened SW and selected "open" and then selected the file from the third party software. When I hit OK, the model opened and rendering was not a problem. It works today. See...

Because I can generate geometry in minutes rather than hours.

    Plot Error?

I did. They say it's not their problem but if I buy some of their special software, it might clear up the problem? So from your response, this doesn't seem to be an obvious SW problem? That's all I was asking. I'm just going to reinstall SW. The thing is, I imported many models from the 3rd...

    Plot Error?

I'm using SW 2016. I use a third party software to generate solid models. The attached Plot1 is what should be plotted, but I get what is shown on Plot? The bottom picture is what it should look like. The top picture is what I get. I may have changed some switches somewhere by mistake? The...

    point force

Thanks for your answer. It helps to narrow down options. I saw that "split" command but wasn't sure how to apply it. I'll look into it more.
