Solidworks PDM Error

Security appears to be a big problem for them as well. Most of their local IT has had their permissions removed so getting into the server where the files are housed has been a giant PITA. Complaining about new protocols being installed that are conflicting with old ones. Their VAR has...

    Solidworks PDM Error

Anyone that is able to use their computer is on windows 7, any new computers are all windows 10 and they can't get them to work. Solidworks version 2017 SP03, few of them on SP05, and any new installs are SP05. I can't find anyone that knows for certain what version of windows their server...

    Solidworks PDM Error

A sister company of ours has a problem with their ePDM. They are getting an error that says: Failed to register the COM DLL 'C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS PDM\Plugins\EPDM\{C52D573B-057B-4CB3-A357-4FE5-31251826}\Dispatch64.DLL'. "Could not load file or assembly...

Solidworks auto rebuild feature is SO ANNOYING!

It isn't a complete solution to your problem, but what I have done in the past for this is to go to Tools\Sketch Settings and turn off Automatic Solve. With that off you will not be able to drag your sketch lines, and any dimensions you change will not update until you turn automatic solve back...

    Photoview Color Differences

I don't get to play with Photoview very often, so when I was asked to see what we could do with it I jumped on the opportunity. Worked with my solidworks model, finished applying all of my textures and color and was extremely happy with the output. Pushed the final render button, decided the...

    Disappearing apostrophes from drawing notes

I think what you've got going on there is that Solidworks is assuming with the quotations and @ that you're trying to create a reference to a dimension or something (Like "D1@Sketch1"). Mine works exactly how yours does, if I have "<data>@<other data>" it returns <data>@<other data> without the...

Drawing description information does not show up in Solidworks created PDF files.

We used to have that problem with 2008 & 2010. If we didn't make sure the model was rebuilt using the stoplight button or CTRL+Q, then some of our dimensions would be missing if we did a "Save As" pdf. However, just remembering to do that quick rebuild always took care of the problem. That...

    Select and box select

Is it possible that you have a shortcut key to swap between box and whatever you're using? If you go to tools, customize and look at the keyboard commands (search for selection) is there a keystroke there that you keep pushing? Mouse gesture?

Reference text in the parameter cell of design table

Aside from renaming the parameter to be more descriptive ("Length@Moment Arm Sketch" for example) the only way that I know of is to right click a cell and choose the "Insert Comment" function. Can then type a note and the cell will have a red flag in the corner to notify someone that there is a...

how to hide model features while editing sketch

Try to uncheck the "Instant 3D" button while in Sketch Mode. It'll be located on the features toolbar.

    Routing & Spool Piece Drawings

I don't understand why it isn't working in a routing sub assembly either. Any other assembly, it works perfectly. I'm assuming that it has something to do with how solidworks treats routing assemblies, I just don't know how that is. I have other options for putting the fasteners in, they...

    Routing & Spool Piece Drawings

Early in the beginnings of setting up our routing library our reseller suggested to take our flanges and create assemblies that included the flanges, gaskets, & fasteners so that when we put them in (and we use quite a bit of them) it was a simple drag and drop just like an elbow or reducer and...

    Creo Conversion Error

Output as Solid/Surface Geometry has the highlight bubble and then Export Face/edge properties is checked as well as Split Periodic Faces.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=f6f237df-9424-4e01-ab54-1df5e3948ad9&file=Output_Settings.jpg

    Creo Conversion Error

I've been asked to save a solidworks file as a step so that a customer can convert it from ProE and then to Creo. In the process he tells me, "The file opens fine, but it's all wireframe." I'm not sure what to tell him. Without his software, I can't replicate his error, everything shows up...

Routing: Pipe routes not terminating at fittings

I know with tubing that you can specify an end length adjustment and that the tube will stick out that much farther then a fitting. But this option isn't there with piping. My problem is that I've got several intersections (Tees and Elbows) where once I exit my route sketch, the pipe doesn't...

    Automatically creates different of gear

If I understand what you're meaning, I am able to create gears thru the toolbox with 2010/2011 If you configure your toolbox, is the "Power Transmission" folder checked in the "select your hardware" area? Past that, is the gears folder checked? The options that I have are Helical, Internal...

Solidworks deleted component but file remains

The files havn't gone to a lightweight state, have they? They would still appear in your assembly tree, but they wouldn't show as having any features in them. Just planes, maybe routing/connection points if you're using those. I have some flexible assemblies that if I don't load all of my...

Simple maybe but difficult to achieve

Got caught up in adding the picture that I forgot to also say, if you just sketch a line that Routing won't know what to do with the line. You need to add route segment properties, and a good way to do that is by adding a fitting, in this case I added a 1.25 flange.

Simple maybe but difficult to achieve

Not sure if this is exactly what you're going for, but if you have a run of pipe and you want to 'T', sketch a line perpendicular to the existing line and then drop a flange or other fitting that you want coming from the 'T'. Then, right click on the point from the line you sketched...

    Penetration

Is the endpoint of the smaller sized pipe coincident with the line of the bigger pipe? The only way I've been able to recreate that message is by making sure that line and point arn't touching.
