Germany's transition to Net Zero

Vying for #1 spot in the race to be a crash test dummy for Net Zero is Germany. Having closed their nuclear power stations, closed their coal power stations, reopened their coal power stations, somebody forgot to make the right sacrifice to the weather gods, and they are having a Dunkelflaute. No wind, no solar for 3 days in a row. Looks like they need a 1800 GWh battery. This is a most excellent website https://www.energy-charts.info/charts/power/chart.htm?l=en&c=DE&source=sw&interval=month&month=12

Luckily their neighbors can step in and help. At a price, 0.9 euro per kWh. Well I guess that's cheaper than a 2 trillion dollar battery.

They have made a couple of big mistakes... closing nuclear was one of them. Cutting off Russian gas was another. Their economy could be decimated.

Counting "cutting off Russian gas" as a mistake shows your politics. Sure it was not a good decision for a power point of view but the politics of the last decade and the invasion of Ukraine rather tied their hands. I thought they had pushed through a gas pipeline from Africa ? Mind you that is only swapping one "master" for another. Better to be independent and that would mean nukes.

Trump's comments on Germany's reliance on Russian gas with regards to Nord Stream 2 were some of the most insightful and honest comments you'll ever hear a politician make.

Not at all... not politics, just my research. The war in the Ukraine started in the 1990s with the US promising Gorby that NATO would not move East. Clinton broke that promise when he installed NATO in seven countries that were east of Germany. Trying to install NATO in the Ukraine was the cause. Same thing with Kennedy and the Cuban missile crisis and the Munroe Doctrine. End of discussion. Do some research...
