When on an ISO drawing that has ISO 8015 already specified, the designer wants to have the envelope requirement enforced, does he need to specify also ISO 14405-1 along with circled E or just circled E is enough somewhere close to ISO 8015 already shown?

So, is ISO 8015 E a valid ISO GPS drawing specification?

IMO use "Size ISO 14405-1:2016 [Ⓔ]". It's also going to invoke the entire GPS.

Cr7,
I understand your reply, but that was not what I was asking😊
I've seen drawings with only 8015 E and I am questioning their validity in ISO GPS.

Do you have some statements from applicable ISO standards to support your point?

I am trying to show it to designer in order to get the print fixed.

5.1 Invocation principle

Once a portion of the ISO GPS system is invoked in a mechanical engineering product documentation, the entire ISO GPS system is invoked, unless otherwise indicated on the documentation, e.g. by reference to a relevant document.

5.5 Independency principle

By default, every GPS specification for a feature or relation between features shall be fulfilled independent of other specifications except when it is stated in a standard or by special indication (e.g. Ⓜ modifiers according to ISO 2692, CZ according to ISO 1101 or Ⓔ modifiers according to ISO 14405-1) as part of the actual specification.

3DDave,

Please clarify a little your opinion: your statements (copied above) from ISO Standards is to prove or disprove cr7's stance that ISO 8015 and E combo is an invalid specification?

If i read the first sentence posted above i would say that E is a portion of an ISO standard, hence ISO 8015 and circled E is valid.

What do you think?

I did not present an opinion; there is nothing to clarify.

Should I understand that this subject is not clearly defined by the ISO standards?
Or offer multiple legal interpretation?

What is a standard industry practice?

The "industry practice" looks somehow like this:

If you want to hit your drafter with "the paragraph", it sounds somehow like this:

Alternative default definition for the entire drawing
The following indication :
- the reference of this standard , i.e : « ISO 14405 »,
- the list of the choosen definition by the corresponding modifiers given in clause 8 (including the symbols), shall be given in or near the title block.

Looks like there is still room for (more) arguments and ISO is not crystal clear on this aspect.
Does not look like I have enough support from the standards and its theory to go back to the designer to have the print corrected.
