Hello,

I'm looking to buy an IEC rated motor starter protector(a motor circuit protector with overload protection from what I can tell). All I can find is the Siemens brand MSP. I'd like to find other brands, like AB, Eaton, or GE.... I've been browsing the internet and have had no luck. Does this sort of device go by different names than motor starter protector? Anybody know a quick and easy way to find products equal to this Siemens MSP 3RV1011-0JA10?

Thanks,

Tim

Try [blue]thermal-magnetic motor circuit breaker[/blue] as a description. Telemecanique market their GV2***, GV3*** and GV7 *** series of breakers which are a broad equivalent to the Siemens part, as are A-B's Bulletin 140M series.

Overload or overload relay. Try looking at Sprecher & Schuh, which is now part of A-B, in fact both A-B and Cutler-Hammer market S&S overloads with their name on them. Link:

That looks like a manual motor starter to me.

What is the intended use?

Try the search terms "Motor Protective Switch" or "Motor Circuit Protector" or "IEC manual motor starter" (use the quote marks to filter your results). Every IEC control manufacturer has them, but if you are looking at their US web sites you will find them under "manual motor starters" because that is as close as we come to the concept. They really are more than that, but for a long time UL and NEMA had no classification for them other than manual starters, so a lot of IEC suppliers called them that and it has carried on that way.

Telemecanique is under Schneider Electric as well as Square D. A thermal trip and magnetic trip rated CB's are available.
