not really climate change but I mentioned it and then scratched away at the scab.

NASA data doesn't show any recovery to me ?

dik,

Canada did accept climate refugees, from Syria.

What I’m most proud of is our border officers waving through US draft dodgers. Some tens of thousands of them, some with their GFs, went on to make a significant contribution to our cultural and intellectual life.

Have you forgotten about the two Michaels dik?

China is easily the biggest existential threat to Western liberal democracies.

Whatever they do creating green infrastructure is more than cancelled out by continuing coal expansion and despoiling of the 2nd and 3rd world nations they are loan sharking.

That was the Canada of my youth... it Changed. I was actively involved in finding them living accommodatons, food, legal assistance, and work. It was a fun and real interesting time. This was middle to late 1960s. Canada's later actions considered them deserters, since the draft was gone and turned them back or turned them over, depending.

Earlier, I had signed a protest form about Hawker Siddley recruiting on campus. A couple of weeks later, my mom presented me with a copy of the Winnipeg Free Press with the names of those protesting printed... there were thousands of names in about 6 point font... my name was circled. My mom had a high security job with National Defence and someone had pointed this out to her. I didn't quit, I just became far more careful and 'went underground', but kept up 'my fun'. There was an added challenge.

I concur... they are still causing harm... and their carbon footprint has increased based on the last data. They are still well behind the US, Canada, and Australia, unless you have more recent numbers. There is no unified world effort to reduce/stop climate change. This is desperately needed, but not happening.

That wasn’t so hard now was it?

I suspect strongly that it was man, and not nature. [pipe]

Sorry Tug... just one of many things... but the current problems are not the result of the Tonga volcano... and who knows what the effects the glacial melts has on plate tectonics? Apparently it's glacial melt is the likely cause of the earth rotation speeding up a tad... [ponder]

That makes no sense. You would think ice melting in the polar regions would add mass to the equatorial regions and increase the polar moment of inertia which would slow rotation.

We USA residents are going to have to amend our constitution to include separation of science and state soon. The believe the science crowd is getting just as wacky as the rest of their religious cohorts. You can give your money to Kenneth Copeland or Al Gore. I see no difference.

The added UV coming through the ozone hole seems to be having a deleterious effect on clear thinking.

You already have a problem... Do you want to fix it, or make it worse? [ponder]

maybe a little sense... if the centroid of the glaciers is 'lowered' then the earth would 'speed up' from simple mechanics. Since we're talking about mass, 10 gms of ice, nearly weigh as much as 10 gms of water. [pipe]

maybe the polar regions? [ponder]

Most of the land mass and population are in the N hemisphere, for what it’s worth.

Classic TBE diversion!
