Hi!
I'm at the moment designing a winch brake system (for an ATV winch) and I'm having some difficult on finding specific literature or even some drawings or cad files. The brake system I'm looking for is the one similiar to the one used in WARN winches.
The information I've found until this moment was just some youtube videos and a few exploded views of the assemblys provided from manufacturers.
My goal is to understand a bit more about the mechanism work and the desgning considerations to have while devoloping such a system.
I've found a paper on this subject ('A study on properties of a cone-type brake for motor vehicle winch') however the brakes that are addressed aren´t the ones that I'm looking to design.

Hope someonde can help me!

(First I'm sorry for my bad english. Second, I'm not sure if this is th right thread to post my question, because I'm new to this forum.)

My company has worked with Warn Winch on load testing their winches. I can check with them and see if they are willing to share some of their information.

Furthermore, my company builds winch brakes, however they are typically on larger marine winches. Our brakes are oil shear aka wet brakes. They utilize multiple friction discs and drive plates on a keyed hub. I can share some of our CAD drawings or models, but I don't know if it will help you in your in your quest to design a vehicular winch brake system. What kind of brake are you looking to design?
