    NX6 assembly constraints

i removed the constraints in that file, slid the v-block to some random spot and applied the constraints and it worked fine so it must have just been something with this file. thank you

    NX6 assembly constraints

ok figured it out but it doesn't make sense.... if I remove the fixed constraint from the customer data the customer data will then move to the vee block which isn't the result I want, because the customer data has to stay in body position. It does this even though the vee block is added after...

    NX6 assembly constraints

Yeah that's what I thought but for some reason it isn't working. I'm actually trying to do it the other way by constraining the vee to the customer data. I though at first that the customer data just wasn't a true cylinder so I made a cylinder and it still isn't working. Oddly when I put the...

    NX6 assembly constraints

so we used to have a mating condition in previous versions called 'tangent' which would allow me to mate a cylinder tangent to two planer surfaces. How do I do that with assembly constraints? I am totally not seeing it and 'touch' is only letting me constrain to one of the surfaces in my vee...

Sheet templates act like Master Drawing templates

truer words haven't been spoken, however my supervisor brought with him the, 'that's the way we did it at XYZ company on QRS software and I don't want to look around for the print like I have too this way' until I can change that attitude (and not lose my job in the process) I have to do as...

Sheet templates act like Master Drawing templates

So I have master drawing templates that work awesomely thanks to everyone's help here a year or so ago. Unfortunately my supervisors want the 'print' or 'drawing' contained within the same part file for detail prints not as a separate drawing file. For the full assemblies they are OK with the...

    Adding Font Types

My company has a number of ttf (true type font) files that have our customer names and other various things that we would like to have on our prints so that they export to a .pdf properly. is it possible to add ttf files to nx6 so that they can be used in drafting? if so how / where do i put...

Have you ever wanted to work in Gray-Scale...

If you need the illustration in a PDF to be b&w simply use your normal settings, make your pdf and then open and print your pdf in grayscale mode on your printer. Most PDF printers will also allow you to print to another pdf file and with greyscale output. No need to change your cdf files for...

    NX6 Toolbar Migration

Thanks John that is what i needed to know. I'll get that file off a current machine and save it on the server in our standards area. Thanks again.

    NX6 Toolbar Migration

I wish to migrate our toolbar setup to multiple computers (after we finish building them and loading software)so that we have a uniform look throughout the office and any of our designers can sit at any station and not be lost. Is there a way to export/import or copy/paste files so that I do...

    nx6 llooonnnngggg start up time

ok I'll give that a try on our XP machines. The w7 machines are all new builds so there shouldn't be an issue with a fragged drive. Thank you

    nx6 llooonnnngggg start up time

Anyway to get nx6 to start quicker. It will take over 5 minutes first thing in the morning and if we reboot the system it can take over 10 minutes to start on our xp machines. On our w7 machines it is still over 5 minutes for the first start of the day/after system reboot. Just seems odd that...

    Windows 7 and NX

haven't notice much different, when switching from component files to main assembly files in LARGE files the render time is much less (likely a memory benefit). It does 'think' through some surfacing stuff quicker, but not overly significant. 64bit version of nx may be different however.

    Visible parameters when editing

ok, I must have a misunderstanding of what a parametric block/cylinder/cone is then, because I am able to define the cylinder axis direction in nx3, as well as a relative location to x/y/z zero, bu alas it must be something different than i had understood it to be. Still my question is answered...

    Visible parameters when editing

in nx3, this is what i get if i click on one of the displayed parameters 'p2' in this example. it gives me a little box that allows me to edit only that parameter. this is what i want to do in nx6. if i can't do it cool i'll live, but i know i can do it to a fully parametric body in...

    Visible parameters when editing

attached is a screen shot of what I'm looking for and it is from nx3. edit feature parameters is the command in nx3 and I simply select the block. not seeing that in nx6http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=ed6f5b0f-89c9-4446-8231-c1f751e671dc&file=edit_feature_parameters.gif

    Visible parameters when editing

the main body. if i create a block for example then wish to edit its parameters i have to do it with the dialogue box and can't just click the parameter i wish to change because it isn't visible

    Visible parameters when editing

ok so back for another question. In nx3 when you edited a body the parameters were displayed so that you could click on them individually to edit. I see that I can do that with features in nx6, but I can't get them to display when editing the main body. how do I turn them on or is that not...
