    ID balloon text changes

Using NX 7.5 and have had a couple of drawings exhibit the following: Identification Symbols attached to a component and either left the text field blank or manually filled it with the proper callout number change upon updating the Parts List in the BOM. The ID symbol now displays a "square...

    Regarding Examine Geometry Analysis (Urgent)

If you have some very small features, either intentional or unintentional, you may get an error using examine geometery. If this is the case edit the tolerance value in the examine geometry dialog box. I have had to use .0001 frequently and several times .000001 for this value. Now, if your...

    Widnows 7 64-bit workstation and TeamCenter & NX6

I was recently creating surfaces linked to a solid body. Due to the time this was taking (days-- not hours or minutes), I contacted GTAC. GTAC informed me that NX7 would only use one of the cores in my dual core computer. They further stated that if the CPU was running 100% (in this case 50%...

Section view label already in use

Simon: I agree with Hudson as we had similar issues and until we got used to UG naming detail views in order with section views, it drove us nuts. Another idea for you: while in the DRAFTING app, look at the navigator near the top. Under drawing - sheets, you will find all views listed along...

Teamcenter Integration for NX; "bundled" TC with Mach

We have a NX Mach 1 Design and althought the Software Quote stated included "Teamcenter CAD Management" and "Teamcenter-Visualization Base" there appears no check-in or check-out ability. We know our purchase did not include either Teamcenter Express or the full Teamcenter package. After...

    Modeling text suitable for machining?

Tim: We have no custom or 3rd party fonts, only those that are part of Win XP Pro. I'll try to get a listing and post. The "ARIAL" font seems to work best for us, although results are still disappointing.

    Modeling text suitable for machining?

Tim: Yes, we do use the Text command (Insert -> Curve -> Text) to creat the text and then extrude it and unite it to the part. Problem is after trying numerous fonts, we always wind up with the toolmakers complaining about the text and charging us additional for laborious hand work. Can...

    Modeling text suitable for machining?

Using NX4, soon to change to NX5 or NX6. We build models of parts to be either sand or permold cast. Text (part number, strength, Pat #, etc) is required to be cast in the part as raised letters. Character height=0.125 and must extend 0.031 above surrounding surface. Standard fonts always seem...

    End of Support for NX2

Based on UGS policy, when would you expect UGS to drop support for NX3?

thru face does not intersect path of the tool...

Dave, Another thing that has worked occasionally is to modify the extrude direction when making the solid from the surface. Instead of extruding in the Z direction, try extruding normal to the surface.

thru face does not intersect path of the tool...

I also use Through Curve Meshes and have encountered the same message. Likewise, my fix was also to offset a surface or if creating an extrusion from the surface, change the start from 0.0000 to -0.0005. That usually works. If you get a real solution, please post. Thanks.

    Problems with printing in NX3

Roy If you are truly printing, then know others also get poor quality. The solution for us was to "plot" instead of "print". What an improvement!

    high quality image

Did you try the "High Quality Image" under the view/visualization pulldown? There is a "Photo-Realistic" method selectable which I've used. Not bad results and doesn't take too long. There are also some "Ray Tracing" methods available. Let us know the results. Robert Hay

    Use of WAVE and Teamcenter

I would be most interested to hear the issues you have encountered as we are considering purchase of Teamcenter Express. In fact, UGS is beginning an on site survey of our needs tomorrow. Thanks

    UGS SELF PACED TRAINING ?

I inquired with UGS as we presently use CAST. They said it is the same and since we have CAST there would be no point in the on-line self-paced training. Don't know the trade offs due to price.

    NX2 Detail view

The location of the arrow is determined by where the cursor was when you dragged to get the detail boundary and let go. With a little thought you can usually get close enough that it doesn't look bad.

change reference set for linked part

In NX2 this was changed through Assembly Navigator. Don't know about NX3.

    "Construction" Lines

You can also make a dimension reference. This helps if you would like to see how a resultant dimension changes as you alter other dimensions, but would otherwise have an overconstrained sketch.

    Slot utility symbol

Try using "Block Centerline" from UTILITY SYMBOLS. I think you would pick the two sides of the slot first; then pick the two arcs. A centerline should be created down the middle of the slot and extend past the arcs.

    Lineweights too heavy

Intimidator, you are correct. We had the same results. Running UG NX2.0.4.2 on a Win XP OS.
