The problem with IGES is that it does not support Solids, except very simple ones.
Best to use the STEP translator. Be careful that the sending software has all the
parts in the assembly set to the same tolerance, otherwise you may not get 100%
conversion.
Borgunit,
A .exp file is usually a CATIA "Export" file.
Close CATIA and double-click on the "CatUtil"
icon. Select CATIMP and then fill in the blanks.
1. IMPORT
2. MODEL
3. Path and name of file (if it's in your home directory
then you only need name -- case...
Marky,
YES! It can be done, but you need the Proper "STEP" license.
Contact the people on the other end, and find out what STEP
they need - 204, 217, etc.
N P,
I went to the page, clicked on the block for USA/Canada and was
able to get all the way to the registration page. There are very few
countries listed, so you have to select the country that has a language
that fits.
Metricman
Valentin,
I think IBM is using the "Key" to give them an
opportunity to call you at the end of the 30 days.
They called me about 2 weeks after I ordered the
free CD "to see if it installed OK." There are also
a lot of "hackers" that could easily defeat a timestamp...
David,
This is a common problem. The question is - do you need to modify
the Space elements? If not, then just use it for whatever you need to
do.
"Merging" the model into a model set at 5000 is the usual way to
"Fix' the problem. Just remember that you should only...
Schick,
Usually, when this error message appears, it is due
to the fact that somewhere along the line someone
did not use "Binary" and instead they used "ASCII"
Have the sending site resend the files, making sure
that they use the "Binary" option.
Metricman
John,
OK. It's just that I never heard them as being called ISO files. I always
just called them "CATIA export files".
Yes V5R7 will make many people happy with that added capability.
Chris,
I don't know about anyone that doesn't put a price on the page.
You can send them an email, but I would check out www.amazon.com
first.
metricman
Rich,
To start, you can download a free 30 day trial of V5 at:
http://www-3.ibm.com/solutions/plm/d45/web/
It runs on Win2000 and NT.
To get training books, goto www.amazon.com and
type in CATIA training. Also goto www.google.com and
type in the same search string.
Metricman
PD,
I really can't say. I only know that experienced CATIA
designers are getting around $37.00 an hour as temps.
Check Boeing and the other Aerospace sites for job info
on location and salaries.
Metricman
Cooggle,
At my previous employer, we used the Overlay Function,
so I can't help you on this. If you have CatHelp installed, you
should be able to find info on deleting links. The other resource
is the IBM Hotline.
Incidently, I was a Catia user that was introduced to AutoCAD
as a secondary...
PD,
I would say YES to the question of "can you find an entry level
job in CATIA?". But I don't know where you live and CATIA seems
to be sparse in certain areas of the country. That's why I suggested
that you look to see where the jobs are located. If you live in Phillip,
South...
