    Adding text notes to sketches

Thanks. Ironically, I was just trying to do that very same thing when I received the email notification. You've shortened the learning curve for me, donyoung. Thanks.

    Adding text notes to sketches

Thanks, donyoung, that was what I was looking for. Now, along the same lines, is there a way that those annotations will follow the model into the draft? Also, I know PMI will be out in V19, but can I display those annotations in a "viewer" enviroment - like SE Viewer or eDrawings? Thanks.

    Adding text notes to sketches

I think I may have lost my mind... how do I add text notes to sketches? I'm using sketching to capture some physical info and drive a sheet metal component... but I can't figure out how to add notes to the model space in a sketch. Thanks,

    New computer monitor

I have two 19" Samsung 920 LCDs side by side right now with a PNY FX1300 video card. I breifly looked at widescreen format LCDs, but was a little skittish because of support issues, etc that show up in the random internet forums. I would like to add one more moniter, but I'm trying to manage...

Assembly Drawings - Or Instruction manuals

Right now, with MBD, we're still in the planning phase. We're looking at two options right now... Option one is to include the assembly file as a eDrawing .easm file, which can be annotated, etc. This would be the product definiton for the entire assembly - which is usually an inseperable...

Assembly Drawings - Or Instruction manuals

KENAT; You're an SE user, so you're kind of stuck with some not-so-hot 3D viewers. Depending on the complexity of what your designing for manufacture and if you're using GD&T on these parts - you might want to take a look at eDrawings. We're just starting the process of asking our venders to...

Fully Employing Positional Tolerancing Over Rectangular Tolerancing?..

Well, let's take some time to educate ourselves about GD&T... we can all break out our copies of Y14.5 and break it down one step at a time. Some sort of hive-learning. We'd need to find ourselves some sort of leader - Lord Of The Flies-style. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

    Acrobat 3D

When we looked at 3D viewers, the measurement tools where one of the key functions that we assessed. I agree with you, josephv, that Adobe's measurement functions where poorly implemented. I will honestly say that I was very excited when I first looked at Adobe, but that has sense worn off...

"The best MCAD program you won't buy"

I agree with psm38. If I'm not mistaken, NX uses quite a bit of the SE sheet metal functionality.

    Acrobat 3D

I think we need to determine the "what-fors" and "whys", before we make decisions on software like Adobe 3D. For example, we are looking ways to communicate design intent, product definition, etc - using the solid model and a viewer instead of investing in drawings which can't "answer...

    JT2GO

Has anyone tried JT2Go? I'm currently comparing the simple collaberation tools available and would like some input on JT2Go. I have spent a bit of time tinkering with it and am less than impressed - especially when compared to eDrawings.

    Bullet-Proof Modeling

Good reference, Mr Young. With SE being a history-based modeler, if you use this "bullet-proof" technique - it seems as if, with a bit of work, you're reaping the benefits of both historical and non-historical modeling. When you start using the variable table to control the model - it seems...

    Bullet-Proof Modeling

A few years ago, a gentleman gave a presentation at SE Summit about "Bullet-Proof Modeling". The concept is to eleminate the vertical "parent/child" model tree and make every feature, etc independant. This uses a plane and an associated sketch to drive every feature. Also some custom...

"The best MCAD program you won't buy"

Several years ago I was hired on as Project Manager at a mid-size manufacturing house. I was tasked with targeting the deep pockets of Law Enforcement and the military. During this time, I recommended the purchase of a 3D MCAD - as we were still using Autocad. I looked around, chatted some...

Bringing in DWG files w/ Convert to 3D command

That's a good tool that I've never used until you recommended it. I'm still holding on hope for a "trim" tool that will trim the 2D entities when they are brought in to SE. Toffeet; I want to take a moment to thank you for your help in recent weeks, it seems that you're always lending advice...

Bringing in DWG files w/ Convert to 3D command

Has anyone used this command at length? My issue is that the DWG file produces a profile with many, many disconnected elements that require a lot of rework to close up for extruding, etc. Is there a trim setting, like what is available with SW, when I bring in an DWG to automatically take care...

    Error in Y14.1?

I recently saw a PPT that claimed GM no longer uses anything larger than "B" and generally sticks to "A". Makes sense.

    Sharepoint & Insight

Do we have to purchase Microsoft Sharepoint Portal Server to use Inight Connect - or can we just use Sharepoint services on Server 2003?

Any news from PLM World for SE V19?

I just transitioned to SE from SolidWorks. I actually was hired on before I even saw the UI for SE. Of course, getting started is a pretty quick process - so the initial change was easy and a little exciting. To be honest, every day I find something about SE that just impressed the hell out...

toffeet; thanks for the link. Lots of good PPTs in there. Good stuff for anyone using SE to review.
