    ACAD DWGS ARE HUUUGE!!

Thanks for all the help with my huuuge file problem! Nothing worked until someone told me to try deleting All objects, Save, and then Oops. It worked where nothing else did. Strange~! My file size dropped from the 18mb it had worked itself up to and ended up at a filesize of 625kb. Thanks...

    ACAD DWGS ARE HUUUGE!!

Well, here is one to chew on . . . Our city maps (AutoCAD, dwn in R12, now editing in R2009 or R2011) generally run between 250kB and 700kB. But several are running from 9mB to 24mB. When opening one of these behemoths, the screen generates in a couple of seconds, but loading continues, along...

ACAD Model Space / Paper Space Not updating changes from one to other

Take my word for it . . . this is an Annotative Scaling issue. Annotative Scaling affects many objects other than text, and if you have not set up one of your "spaces" for Annotative Scaling, then the objects from the other "space" will not show up on it. We did several days of troubleshooting...

    ACAD 2009 Template Trubble

Win XP3 ACAD 2009 sp3 When I am in an AutoCAD session and click "New" for a new drawing, I am directed to the folder containing our modified template files per the Search Path. Good! But when I simply open an AutoCAD session and start drawing in "Drawing 1", AutoCAD is using a template from...

    Objects Disappearing?

ACAD 2009 SP3, XP3 1. Make a new object in Layout, Mspace 2. Open the Model Tab 3. The new object is not there. Multiple times, different new objects. 4. Probably related to a setting in that one drawing.? We know that the new object was drawn on the Layout in Mspace . . . ? Cheers . . . Rocky

    Global Text Width Change R09

I would have sworn that this question had been asked a million times, but I could not find a thread for it in Search. ACAD2009: How can one font style appearing many times in a drawing be globally changed? I want to change the width . . . the text in the dwg has a width of 1.25, and I want it...

ACAD Can't Find my Acad.lin file!!

Chicopee . . . For quite a while, we have been trying to use an acad.lin file on our network, where all CADders can use a common file. This is the customized one . . . the other acad.lin files (in Program Files, and in Documents & Settings) were the generic, unmodified ones. The problem was...

    velcro strap hatch

If you don't find an actual Velcro hatch, try the AutoCAD hatch called, "ANGLE". Rotate it 45 degrees, and adjust the scale, and WALLA! Rocky Cheers . . .

ACAD Can't Find my Acad.lin file!!

Thanks for all the help! AutoCAD now knows which of 3 acad.lin files to use, and it is the one we customized. The problem before was that I knew I had at least 3 acad.lin files in various places, and could not tell which one AutoCAD was using. I ended up altering the search files path in...

ACAD Can't Find my Acad.lin file!!

Intel XP3 ACAD 2009 We spent a bit of time creating complex linetypes to suit our needs in the public works engineering field. They work great, but ACAD can't find them in our Support folder on the local area network that we all share. Acad is apparently finding Acad.lin in one of the ACAD...

    XTools Arc Text Busted

PC WinXPProSP2 Map3d2009SP1 For some time, back to when I was using ACAD2005, I have experienced unsatisfactory results using Express Tools Arc Aligned Text. Today it gave me my arced text, all right, but the letters either "Fit" my arc (very stretched), or overlapped terribly, despite much...

    PDF plot

Regarding the PDF quality . . . I found that while you are in the PLOT screen, and you increase the quality to maximum, then your PDF will be nice and sharp as you zoom closer and closer. I have the best luck with PDF995 software. -Rocky Cheers . . .
