Elements Intersecting

Hi,

I have three separate parts, they are all next to each other. I have performed a Boolean operation on the STL files to make sure the geometries do not intersect but when I create a volume mesh in another software (3-matic) and import the INP file to ABAQUS, I end up getting elements that intersect with each other. Is there a function in ABAQUS to prevent this?

Hi,

When it is export in INP. format from 3-matic, it does create extra surface. What you need to do is delete the nodal surface in your INP files.

In Abaqus's assembly module you can do a boolean and retain the consumed edges. A picture or copy of your model always speeds up and improves the suggestions we can give. I hope this helps.
