Don't you see? It doesn't matter if they're lifted out of poverty if they don't have state sponsored access to abortion. Nothing else matters.

and no fossil fueled AC systems and private automobiles likely helps a bit. Their infant mortality rate is nearly identical to the US.

Their carbon footprint is not looking very positive...

Even that depends on whether the reader considers higher CO2 levels to be a problem. You and some others may think it's the end of the world, but some of us aren't convinced that's the case.

And because millions of them have been raised above the poverty line, their carbon footprint continues to grow... The change in US carbon footprint was approx -2% and the Chinese was -0.2% with a population nearly 5x that of the US. Wait until India joins the breadline... it's not looking very positive.

There is always a danger in comparing numbers between a free an open society and one which is totalitarian. Right? China (or Cuba, or Venezuela or such) will never release numbers that they feel make them look bad. So, you cannot really trust the numbers they report as a good comparison to the numbers by countries more like the US.

Josh... I have as much confidence in their data as I do in anyone else... Unless it's reputable, it just data to be reviewed. Notwithstanding who's producing the CO[sub]2[/sub], the US per capita is nearly 2x that of China... quibbling about if it's 2.1 or 1.9 only detracts from the facts and delays any action. A free society or a totalitarian one... might make a difference. Corrective changes may be brought about more quickly with a totalitarian society. Like so many things, we have to wait and find out...

"Corrective action" is much, much, much more likely to be taken by an authoritarian society. But, the correction is always meant to benefit the state, not the individual. That's sort of my point. Will the Chinese government take actions to "save the world" from global warming? Probably not unless they see something that benefits China more than the rest of the world.

We've got this pesky thing called "individual freedom" in the west that can prevent the governments from doing whatever they like to their people. China doesn't have that. That's why some 30 million Chinese died from starvation from 1958 to 1962 (the "great leap forward"). And, another 1.5 million in the "cultural revolution". The human misery and death toll that this authoritarian regime has already caused is far, far, far worse than anything that we can expect to happen based on "climate change".

We'll have to see... the Chinese are already taking special action is some cities because they are already polluted and people have to wear masks. Maybe not saving the world, but if they can clean these up, it does benefit the world. Maybe not their intention, but part of the result.

This post probably will get the boot, but I would not characterize some of the recent shenanigans of US Media, FBI, DOJ and etc like that.

That's why I like the modified Harley slogan, "Live Free and Die." A real big failure of that approach is that they don't teach people that there is a huge responsibility that comes with that freedom.

Yeah, we need to Cultural Revolution those freedom enjoyers. Maybe send them to the gulags? Holocaust? It certainly won't be a degree or two change in weather that is going to kill them. What or who is going to kill them, dik?

" Chinese are already taking special action is (sic:in?) some cities"

Do you mean the wholesale genocide of Uyghurs? Great example, dick

You are correct. Jews are also the target of ethnic cleansing, but they are now capable of fighting back because they have their own country, while the Uyghurs in China don't have that capacity.
