"You could place blocking on the existing angles (Photo 1)."
I'm not familiar with the term "blocking". Are you saying that the sides of the angle aren't closed off, and should have some sort of barrier placed on top?
Pictures would be more helpful:
This is a picture of the line washer. Notice the gaps in between the pipes that are a safety hazard.

Here is a close up view of an already-present steel angle that...
Mike,
As I understand it, there are multiple types of bar grating, so I tried to be specific by referring to it as "stair tread." I'll keep what you said in mind, and say bar grating when referring to it again.
Thanks for your advice.
I am currently a manufacturing engineering co-op at a factory, and I have a task that is beyond my experience. I'm hoping some of you more experienced than me can give me some tips on how to approach this.
Problem: At my factory, we have a line washer that carries steel parts through the...
I have a new plan that may work.
I'm going to scale my existing drawing up, perhaps 12 or so. Then I'll import the factorycad objects and see if they come out at a decent size. This seems like the only approach to me.
My drawing is currently "Unitless." When trying to insert an object from FactoryCAD , it gives me more scaling options that I have shown in my attached image. I'm working with AutoCAD 2010. I tried changing the unit of my drawing to Meters, then I click the second two "millimeter" buttons on my...
Hey everyone,
This problem is a little confusing, but if you know anything about scales and FactoryCAD, please bear with me.
This question deals with importing .dwg files that end up being HUGE on my screen. I think that this is a scale problem, and to fix it I should have the units equal on...
Thanks for the suggestions guys. It turns out that this was a mistake on my part. I thought that the entire imported drawing was selected, but instead, it was only highlighted. I'm not too sure why the software highlighted the entire drawing. It seems a bit confusing to me, because I have to...
Hi everyone,
I'm new to AutoCAD 2010, and I just imported a 2D drawing from NX6 into AutoCAD. The flat pattern lines all show up nicely, but when I try and select one line, the entire drawing get selected. I heard about the "explode" command before and tried to separate the lines that way, but...
CarlB, when opening the file, it is presented as a 2D drawing. I pressed shift + middle mouse and rotated it upwards to see if there were any Z values present, which was what the screenshot showed. Thank you for your input.
I have a 2D drawing of a factory layout in AutoCAD 2010. I need to use the file, but I am not the original author, so I'm not sure exactly how it was designed. Some of the lines are flat on the 2D x-y plane (understandable because its a 2D drawing), while some are on the Z axis as well. I am new...
Hello,
I am adding dimensions to a drafting part, and some dimensions lines are too close, causing the text to overlap. I thought I could just click the dimension value and drag it to the side, but only some dimensions allow this. I've added a screenshot of my problem.
How can I fix this...
John, I see what you did here I think. Before, I kept creating multiple tabs instead of adding flanges. That messed up my model before. But now when I made my model as you did, but with my own dimensions added, I can't seem to "see" the flat pattern. It shows up on my model views as flat...
Thanks a lot for your advice guys. John, I really appreciate you taking the time to do that for me, I'll take a look at it when I get into the office tomorrow.
Hello,
I am new to NX6, and I created a sheetmetal part file that I now want to create a flat pattern of. I attached a picture of my part to this post.
Problem: I know how to use the Unbend feature to flatten the part out, but next when I click the Flat Pattern button, I'm not sure where I...
Hello,
I'm new to UG, having just transferred from SolidWorks, and I need help on something relatively simple. If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it.
In NX6, I need to modify the text of a titleblock of a pre-existing file. The titleblock was inserted by the "insert pattern" method by the...
