Weld procedures qualifying different P numbers

You are mixing welder qualifications with the welding procedure. 2205 is P10H while 316 is P8. I will get you started: See QW-423 and QW-424.

    Forged flanges in A182 F347

Normalization or Nitrogen?...I would go with the latter.

Joint efficiency where 3 welded joints join in

What size, what Code? Vessel? U-2(g) would be required.
  4. david339933

    Shell-Dish Joint weld applicability

This joint cannot be considered a Type 3 and be Code compliant.

    stud weld - continuous breakage

What material, how was it welded?

requirements of electrode condition before rebaking

As long as they are not wet, you can re-bake..once only.

    SA-53 E/B used as a vessel shell Section - UW-12(e) UW-12(d), UW-11(a)(5)(b) and what JE to use

The only mistake I see is that the vessel should have been marked RT-2. E=1.0 for shell and head calc. are correct. UW-11(a)(5)(b) has been satisfied.

Quolifying thickness reducetion for forming head of pressure vessel in fabrication

You don't give a lot of info, but I would check out UCS-79 (d)(2)(d)

2:1 Head straight flange in SEC. VIII, DIV. 1

This is false. A shell with no RT (E=0.7) will be thicker than a straight flange (skirt) designed as a seamless shell (E-0.85).

    Weld Material Overstrength

How thick is the simpson hold down? 75% of the thickness is your leg size.

    Section View question

I agree, you don't need 10 sheets, but a simple overall iso view solves a lot of confusion. A box with a hole in it can be confusing if you only see a section of it.

    UCS-66 / ASME SA-516 Gr.70 Fine Graine Practice

It specifically says Curve D if normalized.
  13. david339933

    Section View question

How do you know what the entire forging looks like without an overall view. Seems a bit confusing to have just a section view.
  14. david339933

    Section View question

How can it be called a section if there is no relevant section? You can't have Section A-A without having another view denoting what A-A section is. I am not a drafter, so you aren't getting the Y14.3 technical crap you will get from many others.

Half coupling vs Stub in or Set in branch

putting a half coupling and stub in is basically the same thing. Use a proper branch connection such as a weldolet. Not sure what hot tapping has to do with any of this.

    ERW/EFW pipes

The cost to RT would far out weigh the cost of seamless. As far as SS, I would heed Eds advice...he's like the stainless Jesus around here...gospel.

Slip on flanges for normal fluid services

Using good engineering sense...yes. Done all the time.
