Is it possible to mix datum features and datum target points/lines in a single Datum Reference Frame? Can my primary datum be a planar face, can my secondary datum be another planar face, and my tertiary datum be a single Datum Target point C1 ?
I don't see anything in y14.5 that supports this. All there examples of using datum targets uses them for all three positions in a FCF.

Blue33,
If you use Y14.5-2018, see para. 7.24. If you use Y14.5-2009, see para. 4.24. Both paragraphs explain that datum targets may be combined with datum features.

I just did this yesterday.
Datum A is axis, Datum B is plane, Datum target C is a line.

arrgg...thank you pmarc. I guess I got so used to skimming thru these paragraphs, I completely never saw that. read it a 1000x but I guess it never sunk in. Thank you!!!
