Not at all manipulative, Tug... you have to look at the image; it's really quite clear and informative. The top of the line is going up, but so is the bottom. The width of their Green colour is slowly increasing, but ever so little. It is not 'pushed up' by China; it's the width of the line that's important, not the location on the chart. The US has changed since 1940, nearly doubling. China's has changed in the same time period, going from very little to a huge amount. It shows that China is taking renewable resources seriously. Their atmospheric pollution requires masks in some locations. [pipe]

Can you cite a source for this. They are increasing... but they are nowhere near the US and I think it is only 'wishful thinking' that they will surpass. It's used as an excuse for not doing anything. For the sake of the world and humanity, both countries have to drastically improve. [pipe]

China is about to surpass the USA in total CO2 emitted since the industrial revolution.

This is incorrect. Cumulative values are pretty clear; the US is the cumulative leader, and China is in second place with roughly 50% of the US's cumulative value. China is gaining, but at current rates China's total emissions exceeding the US is still decades away.

OK hold the phone

This question makes me wonder if you actually understand the volumes- emissions by China are nearly triple the US. Triple.

Just a thought... it might be too long by then. [ponder]
