I sure hope you are correct in your assessment... but, have have these, lingering, doubts. [pipe]

Yes, wealthy countries are definitely beginning to really treat climate change seriously. Our populations have the free time and means to care about this sort of stuff. Personally, I think this is a good thing. As long as we do it in a reasonable way that isn't crippling to our economy. Essentially, let's be most efficient with how our tax dollars are spend to reduce this problem.

Where we are NOT making progress is to convince poor people in 3rd world countries that they should sacrifice the desire to improve their current standard of living until after this issue is under control. They still want to use coal and fossil fuels. They are desperate for the kind of abundant energy (and infrastructure) that we have.

That being said, I'm not the type of person that thinks we need to completely stop global warming. Maybe slow it down. Maybe reduce the magnitude a little. Then deal with the consequences (when they come) as best we can.

My concern is that by not dealing with it, we may be creating a scenario that we cannot undo... We are looking at some very powerful and complex systems... many of which are not well understood... and we are learning about new ones.

In a worst case, you might not have that opportunity.

That's myth... take a gander at the countries with the highest per capita carbon output... India is 1/10 the US and China is about 1/2. Why should they not be entitled to 'the good life' that we have? Or, why should we be allowed to continue, at their expense?

The path were taking IS the worst case. Climate change AND a crippled economy. One of the two is preventable.

I hope you are correct, tug... I suspect things can get a lot worse... It would be interesting to see how insurance companies are addressing this.

That's quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever read on this forum. Given that I ate my brussel sprouts this evening, can you please point me toward some of the free money for green energy that's going to save the planet?

I suspect there will be huge life style changes, too.

From who? The ones pushing the agenda have.made the reverse or a *style change".

I can’t see John Kerry changing his life style. So why should I?

Like it or not, you may not have a choice.

That's why we're pushing back on the global warming crisis hoax (btw,it's only the "crisis" part I'm calling a hoax) now, dik, so hopefully it will not get to the point of complete tyranny in the name of saving the planet from something that may or may not come to pass.

It would not destroy the planet, anyway; it would just change it in ways that humans would have to adapt to, which we've done successfully many times in the past.

I have no idea of how this will end... in a worst case, it could get really ugly... hopefully this is not the case. Climate change is not a hoax, I suspect. We'll have to wait for a few years to see if there are additional changes.

Sea level has risen 400 feet in the lifetime of humans. It has the potential to rise up to 30 more. I don't see the cause for concern.

Tug... Tell that to the people in south eastern states...

The people in those SE coastal areas can move to higher elevations. Miami can be the new Venice.

They won't be alive by the time sea level encroaches on their property. Humans don't live that long.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s of no concern. It was a long term concern regardless of climate change. Climate change may speed it up a little, but we’re still talking about changes over hundreds/thousands of year. We will deal with it. It’s not an “existential threat to our existence”.

The way climate alarmists talk you’d think we’re due to come home one day and find the ocean in our living rooms.

Good point. Over the past hundred years or so, the average rise in sea level has been a few millimeters per year, supposedly. Before satellite measurements, it was difficult to sort out the change in sea level from changes in the land elevations at the coastlines.
