Concur... and it may be that reindeer have to be sacrificed, or that windfarms can be relocated. If there's another 'great extinction' it may that reindeers join the lineup...

eng... None of us know... but, there could be some big changes coming up.

Or, as has happened so far, not much at all and any trends are positive, except for one issue that medieaval Netherlanders could cope with.

Is it possible that during winter, this could be a weekly occurence? Maybe something to look forward to and plan for.

No, but noise pollution has effects on the lifestyle of people and reindeer. Ask Greta Thunberg.

Remember when Trump levied a similar complaint about wind turbines?

That's right only the elite should fly. 23 Jun 2014 — Greenpeace chief commutes - by plane: Executive flies 250 miles from Luxembourg to Amsterdam despite organisation's anti-air travel campaign.

In Trump's case, the wind turbines were interfering with his Scotland golf course... he could't give a ratzass about the environment.

It's wrong and will have to change... politicians, etc. will have to stay at home and do teleconferencing... likely the way of the future.

Teleconferencing from home is for us 'little people'. Don't expect our despotic 'leaders' to give up their private flights to luxury resorts in Davos, etc. that we pay for.

It will be interesting to see if that changes. I'm not holding my breath. That's the way COP should be done, if they were serious. They should be setting the example. [pipe]

I'm not holding my breath, either. After this amount of time, it's obvious they're not serious about it. I think most of the climate change bigwigs know that there is no crisis. If they believed what they were selling, they wouldn't be building oceanfront mansions.

To borrow a phrase: "I'll believe it's a crisis when the people telling me it's a crisis start acting like it's a crisis" :)

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

The old expression, "When you're up to your *ss in alligators, it's too late to drain the swamp", comes to mind.

If you drain the swamp you'll be left with a bunch of unhappy alligators.

Regarding "climate change bigwigs" hucksters "building oceanfront mansions": it's a tell.

They want to be the biggest fish in the largest pond, (the world) and the ones "more equal than others."

Don't fall for the Climate Change ruse!

Skip,

Yes and no. Yes in that this is the ultimate display of hypocrisy. There is no denying that. This and all the private jet flights and such.

However, I'd guess that the billionaire class doesn't view a 10 or 20 million dollar home as much of an investment. Rather, it's just a nice place to vacation with privacy and such. Like, what we "working class" folks would spend on a weekend trip to a resort hotel by the beach. If that hotel were washed away next year, it doesn't mean anything to us. Just like the potential loss of a 20 million dollar home doesn't mean much to them.

Yes, exactly! I don't believe this is an immediate crisis. Not like the train derailment in Ohio. Not like the collapse of all those grocery store roofs in the San Bernadino mountains. Those are things are are affecting people in very real (and incontrovertible) ways TODAY.

To me, climate change is a very real issue. An issue with potential long term consequences. Consequences that may be pretty severe. But, it's not going to destroy civilization or such. There are plenty of "mitigation" measures we can make today that are reasonably cost effective. But, the idea that we immediately abandon all fossil fuel production in the US is the worst possible solution. Moving our entire grid to wind and solar is not economically efficient. It's also not possible! Moving from coal to natural gas (or better yet, nuclear) is a much better idea.
